F Gregory Brown (1887 – 1941) Gregory Brown was born in London, the son of J Terrell Brown, an art master. After an apprenticeship as a metal worker, Brown turned initially to illustration for magazines and later to poster design, for which he won a diploma at the Milan International Exhibition in 1923, he was an early member of the Design and Industries Association.

Frederic Gregory Brown was an artist and designer who was born in London in 1887. In the 1920s, he produced a series of posters for Margate’s department store Bobby & Co, which had opened branches in towns across the South Coast. The dramatic Art Deco posters were printed at Bobby & Co’s print works in Union Crescent.
