Alison Pilcher

My Art career started as soon as I could draw! I loved drawing from an early age and still derive much pleasure from the Art, Craft & Design. I studied Graphic Design at University followed by a teaching diploma at London University. I have taught Art and Design in schools and colleges in the UK and here in Melbourne.
My philosophy is that everyone has the ability to draw, paint and be creative. My role as a teacher is to initiate, stimulate and encourage students to be expressive, confident, creative artists in their own right and to have fun with a diverse range of creative processes and techniques.
I am an active member of Beaumaris Art Group both as a teacher and as a practicing artist. I teach a Painting & Drawing Class exploring a wide range of media. I closely link the projects I teach with analyizing and studying the work of historical & contemporary artists. I also work as a Mosaic artist and am currently working on a mural for a local kindergarten & working on ongoing commissions. I have taught Mosaics at the Art Group and would like to teach more workshops in the future.
